If you live in Ashtabula and suffer from radiating pain, tingling and numbness caused by sciatica, you can find relief at the French Chiropractic and Wellness Center in Madison.
What is Sciatica?
Sciatica refers to the pain associated with irritation of the sciatic nerve. This nerve runs from the lower spine through the hips and into each leg. Sciatic pain typically begins in the lower back, radiating downward into the legs.
What Causes Sciatica?
These medical conditions often cause sciatic nerve pain:
- Degenerative disc disease or the loss of the cushion between vertebrae.
- Lumbar spinal stenosis or the narrowing of the spine.
- Spondylolisthesis or the slipping of one vertebrae over another.
Any activity or condition that causes misalignment of the vertebra or increased pressure on the sciatic nerve may cause sciatica. Obesity, lack of regular exercise and poor sleeping habits are some of the most common.
What are the Symptoms of Sciatica?
You will feel the symptoms of sciatica in your lower back, hips, and legs. These symptoms include numbness, tingling, weakness of the knee or foot, pain or a strange sensation in the calf and lack of mobility in the knees and feet.
What is the Treatment for Sciatica?
At the French Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we will eliminate the source of your sciatic nerve pain using one of our two methods of spinal decompression. We use flexion/distraction chiropractic tables as well as a spinal decompression table to relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. We can also manually manipulate and realign vertebrae if a less drastic treatment is necessary. All treatments at our facility are effective and approved by the FDA.
